ProfileJames R. Skinner & Company was founded in 1985 as a contract manufacturing business providing injection molding services. The business focused on developing solutions for complex problems related to injection mold tooling, molding processes, and engineering plastic materials. The successful completion of customer projects resulted in the growth of JRS & Co. into a key supplier of speciality plastic resins used for injection molding and extrusion.
In 1989 a breakthrough was achieved in the field of polymer technology. Utilizing a proprietary Intrinsic Dissipative Polymer (IDP), it was discovered how to alloy or chemically couple this additive to other base polymers in order to make them conduct electricity, thereby providing Electro Static Discharge (ESD) protection. The significance of this achievement is realized with the ability to make plastic materials permanently free of static electricity. Because the IDP technology is permanent, recycling and reuse offers the opportunity capitalize on long-term savings, while reducing the impact to our environment.
Manufacturing electronic and related products in class 1 or 10 environments demands that plastic materials not outgass harmful residues or transfer ionic contamination during assembly processes. Materials formulated by JRS & Co. are designed for these stringent applications whereby strict protocol and compounding processes offer the highest industry standards in order to maintain material specifications. Certification of IDP materials is provided for physical, mechanical & ESD properties. Independent material analysis can be provided upon request, by a national aerospace laboratory for any ASTM specification or propritary protocol.
JRS & Co. is currently supplying materials for high volume applications in the USA as well as the Far East and Europe. However, the strength of my company is in the development of custom formulations for proprietary products, and technical support related to applications engineering.
